Doula & Birth Educator jackee.leonard@gmail.com | 720-401-4453
I am a full-service doula and birth educator in the greater Denver area. I support individuals in fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and pregnancy loss.
My approach to doula work is eclectic and I pull from many modalities in my practice.
In addition to my birth services, I also offer six weeks of labor ready body work. Each session includes water therapy in the pool.
About Me
I am honored to accompany you on your pregnancy and birth journey. I know firsthand that the individuals chosen to be an active part of any birth journey are selected with deep intention. Thank you for your trust in allowing me to journey this process with you. Please know there is no judgment here. My mission is to help you do what is best for you. I have journeyed with women who have had unmedicated births in a variety of settings, women aided by epidurals, nitric oxide, and pitocin, as well as cesarean deliveries. I know there is a time and a place for each of these interventions. My goal is to inform you of these options and their potential benefits and risks as the journey develops.
It is my mission to support individuals in ways unique to them through each transformation of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I hold deep reverence for the hills and valleys that each of these beautiful transitions contain. It is my sincere hope that the individuals and families I work with feel seen, heard, and respected through all stages of bringing life forth.
I have been passionate about pregnancy and motherhood my entire life. I am certified through DONA International (2023). I obtained my B.A. in Human Development through Metropolitan State University (2013). This coursework focused on the human lifecycle from conception to death. My courses explored prenatal development and early family systems from many perspectives.
How it Works
If you choose me as your doula, you will receive 3 prenatal meetings, 24 hours of labor support, and one postpartum meeting with lactation support.
The prenatal meetings are designed for us to get to know each other, as well as to discuss your expectations for childbirth. Each of these three meetings have a specific purpose, and take about 2 hours.
I begin meeting with clients who add on the body work for labor prep starting around 34 weeks. We meet once a week at the Chuze gym closest to you. I assess how you are carrying the pregnancy and try to identify and correct any imbalances with body work, including, prenatal yoga, myofascial release, somatic therapy, and water therapy.
For your birth, I block out my calendar two weeks before the estimated due date, as well as the two weeks following.
Once I arrive at your birthing location, I stay with you the duration of your labor and one to two hours postpartum. The only exceptions to this are births that extend past the 24 hours of support, hospital restrictions and small personal breaks. It is my goal to be sure you are supported with every contraction.
Somewhere between day 3 and day 5 postpartum, I make a home visit. During this visit we will celebrate your labor and birth journey, and I can answer any questions that you may have on newborn care and feeding.
I am always available to you via text or Marco Polo, regardless of how many weeks prenatal or postpartum you may be!
I am looking forward to meeting you and any loved ones who may be accompanying you on this birth journey! Please schedule an initial consultation with me to see if we are a good match!

Prenatal Meetings
The prenatal meetings are typically held in person and take about 2 hours each. This is time for us to connect as a group and for me to really dial in your specific goals and preferences. Each of these three meetings has a specific purpose. During each meeting, we will develop, review, and refine your birth preferences, and talk about what you expect from me as your doula.
During the first meeting, we will go over relevant documents and forms, review any past pregnancies and births, and discuss your current pregnancy.
The second meeting will focus on comfort measures, support preferences, and customized birth education.
The final meeting is designed to help families develop a holistic postpartum plan. This meeting is tailored to your individual and family needs. We also do a meditative process designed to support the couple through this transition.
Body Work
I truly believe that preparation is key. This is especially true for labor. The more we can prepare our bodies, practice birth breathing techniques and ready our minds, the more connected we will be during the labor and birth. I believe that this work during pregnancy is important, and I try to keep my rates for these meetings affordable.
Starting around 34 weeks, and ending the week of the birth, we will meet weekly at the Chuze gym closest to you. I will assess how you are carrying the pregnancy and work to identify and correct any imbalances with body work. My body work process is eclectic, and I am currently learning The Body Ready Method®. This addition includes tailored prenatal yoga, myofascial release, somatic therapy, and water therapy. Each session is an hour long and 20 min of water therapy is included with every session.
Before Labor
I block out my calendar two weeks before your estimated due date, as well as the two weeks following. During this time, I consider myself “on call”. My bags are packed, and I am ready to meet you within an hour of your request. I ask that you CALL me when you believe contractions have started so I can hear your voice. This also allows me to change my appointments over the next day or so.
During Labor
Once I arrive at your home or birthing location, I stay with you the duration of your labor and one to two hours postpartum. The only exceptions to this are births that extend past the 24 hours of support included with the birth or any to hospital restrictions or small personal breaks I may need during the labor. It is my goal to be sure you are supported with every contraction. During this time, I may make suggestions on position changes, natural induction strategies, and other comfort measures to help bring baby down and encourage cervical change.
*I guarantee 24 hours of continuous labor support upon my arrival. After 24 hours I will do my absolute best to remain with you until two hours after the birth of your baby, but I cannot guarantee support beyond 24 continuous hours. So far, I have been able to support all of my clents thorugh the golden hour regarldless of labor time.
Birth Doula Services $1,000 (Includes prenatal meetings and postpartum follow-up)
Postpartum Services
After Birth Meeting
There is one postpartum follow-up included with the labor. I will come between day 3 and day 5 postpartum, I make a home visit. During this visit we will celebrate your labor and birth journey, and I can answer any questions that you may have on newborn care including feeding/lactation/latching/pumping. I keep this visit to no longer than 45 minutes, so that I am not keeping you from rest, selfcare, or your new bundle of joy for too long.
Additional Postpartum Support
Sometimes the most healing thing is rest. It is amazing how milk production and emotions respond to a night of sleep. This service includes processing the postpartum journey, light breastfeeding support, light housework, meal prep, childcare, and most other requests within reason that support the mother. Let me do your laundry, wash the bottles, and help while you shower, eat, sleep, or reconnect with yourself.
*5 hour minimum - $25/hr
Typical shifts are from 7pm to 7am and can be customized
Birth Education
In spring of 2023, I taught a birth education series at New Legacy Charter School in Aurora. This was a weekly childbirth education series for expectant students.
Because of this experience, I understand that women need birth education that is easily accessible in location, time, and content. I have tailored my current curriculum to fit into a 50 minute period so that it can be done during potential homeroom or off periods. My courses are designed to be very hands-on, including handouts and visual props and activities, instead of projector-based slides and lecture style information. This allows me to stay mobile, flexible and discussion based in approach. I also assess the parents individual interests and concerns as they relate to prenatal, birth and postpartum topics and tailor the content to address these topics in depth.
